does anyone add in some Chubb roll to the feed to add interest??

i give my 11month Vizsla Barking heads puppy food, chicken flavour, and have for a fair few months, it seemed better then the hill science plan i had him on at first.

and he enjoyed this alot, eating about 2 tumblers full for breakfast and 3 at tea time (alot?!)

hes recently gone off it, and not really eating much of it. maybe half what he was eating, so added some of this stuff and he chucks it down again and is a whole lot more interested in it then before.

having got another bag on the way, all be it the adult version (they grow up so fast!) of the same flavour i'm starting to think i should switch to another flavour.....

hes wormed ect, and if he doesnt eat it or looses interest its taken away till next feeding time.

What i'm trying to ask really is, is it worth adding this stuff to get him to eat it? or is it actually gonna harm my dog?

Cheers

Mine used to be similar, so i had them on Chub roll for about 6 months using a different flavour each week but with the same base food. I've stopped it about 3 months ago and they are eating perfectly normally now.

Didnt do mine any harm, coats were in great condition and still are, and they loved it.

Why not try him on the new bag, see how he gets on with that and then if he's the same, chuck a bit of chub in with it. I always mashed mine up and then mixed the dried food into it so they couldnt just eat the chub.

Hi i use barking heads for my Vizzies but the bad hair days lamb and rice flavour and they both love it, i do add the odd tin of sardines in tomato or raw egg or veg oil to sparkle it up a bit every now and again, and also if they are going out early for the day, cos they always wolf it down then and at least i know they have had something to eat before working or counting.

one of mine doesnt enjoy chicken flavoured stuff but she does like the fuss pot salmon variety.

someday mainly at weekends they get raw meat chicken wings and tripe, but one of the viz is a bit slow eating this seems to prefer the kibble

they eat the lot, raw chicken bones are fine to feed, some use the whole carcass when feeding Bones and Raw Food diets.

just dont give cooked ones due to splintering and brittleness.

i order my barking heads with G W Titmuss as they often have deals on, so do Viovet, and it usually there next day.
