PhilR
I'd driven over to two permissions about twenty miles apart, the crows on the first were totally absent from the recently drilled spring barley fields and at the second the farm staff were out working where I'd liked to have set up for a crow shooting session. However, whilst I was driving around the second farm Bakerboy phoned me to tell me a regular field of Alfalfa we shoot over had started to get busy again with pigeons decoying well and he'd shot twenty or so but couldn't stay there for the afternoon. It took me an hour to get there and meet him at 1pm and he kindly left his deeks out for me, as I'd forgotten to pack mine in the truck and only had crow deeks, plus a couple of dead birds to get me going for the flapper and bouncer. I got my hide set up and sure enough the birds started to trickle in and I ended up with eighteen pigeons shot and picked up and one crow which landed in the field behind not belonging to the farm. I called a halt to proceedings at 5.30 when the farmer came down to the field to walk her pack of dogs around it. So from a disappointing start to the day it turned out to be a decent afternoon, thanks for the phone call Terry. The pic shows my eighteen plus Terry's two.
