Leaving the pairs alone

My mate called me last week and told me that the Canadas had returned to field behind his house and were totally ruining the grass with their black pudding sized ***** (hope i get away with that one)

Last night we were worried about the weather was awful, the wind and the rain was horrendous and we nearly called it off. But when I woke about 3-30 the moon was shining and a fairly clear sky with a strong wind that would prove a challenge in the field.

To ad to the challenge we both agreed that we would not shoot any pairs, and only go for singles and groups (being the nice guys that we are)

As soon as the sun came up, the geese came in fast, really fast and they all seemed to be pairs which was annoying, but we had previously agreed not to go for them.

At one stage there were about 8 pairs feeding amongst the decoys, very tempting but fought the urge.

Anyway, we managed to bag three young birds which was more than enough for the freezer, and the other Canadas won't be back for a while either.

A small bag, but both happy including the farmer.

Well done mate very sporting of you :good: :good: job done and not shoot the hell out of them! wish others took a page out of your book!!! :good: :good:

We were talking about this the other day in the pub. You need rules in every game, otherwise it isn't a sport.

Even when shooting crows in a hide, it's only crows that I will shoot. Had a wood pigeon land well within shooting range on Saturday, but it was crows I was after so stuck to it.

I'm not expecting everyone to follow suit but I'm a strong believer in discipline.
