i love clay shooting
i am sorry to here that deershooter the event has come on a long way in the last few years, they are always looking for help and advice on how to improve these things though so fell free to make some suggestions to them. They are only trying to raise money for a good cause and give some people some entertainment at the same time
springerfan
I have noticed the stands are to hard . I am an experienced shooter myself and so are my friends but many won't even go now . If you made the stands more shootable you would get many more people having a go. I would like to see the person who sets these targets up shoot them! countryside lass
I've shot this comp 3 years on the trot as I used to follow the Belvoir Hunt and I've enjoyed it however I've struggled miserably every time, even though I shoot a lot of clays, usually with decent scores and have a fair few trophies in the cabinet. The stands have been almost the same every time I've shot there and I've watched lots of people shoot it who are very good shots and they've struggled to get any sort of a score either. I know of one guy who shot several rounds but didn't get into the winning scores and who then borrowed a s-by-s so that he could enter that class and didn't win that either. It could do with a change of layout definitely, the organisers put in a lot of hard work and don't deserve to have low turn-out and they have good prizes on offer. The same pot hunters turn up every year and win - but if they're the best on the day then they deserve to win. Unfortunately the combination of pot hunters and difficult layout will inevitably lead to the recreational shooters not entering......and the organisers will end up giving out more cash than they take in entries.....not a good thing for a fund raising event. HDAV
AS its a "hunt" event why not get Brownings "Rabbit Mania" there? Throw them all as close doubles and call it fox mania with some flash targets thrown in for bonus prizes.... Would solve all issues?

richg
Make it easy easy easy, cater for the masses not the one man who wins. You only need one stand to sort the men from the boys, if its too tough, people have one go then keep there money in their pockets. Also put a 10 bird DTL on, you can push six squads an hour through, shoot off at the end, flushes are fun but very time consuming, and time is money. you only have a short window to part shooters from as much of their money as possible, every minute counts.
