Mr Majyk
can i have some feedback on what the hell is happening with my BSA airsporter? its an underlever springer which im trying to zero the iron sights on for picking off the pigeons which land on my garage roof. the target on the left was first try to see where the shots were going. i tweeked the sights a little and got the nice little group you can see on the right hand target but after those 5 shots it completely lost all accuracy and produced the five shots you can see at the bottom of the card? anyone got any idea what could be causing this??? Rimfireboy
Are the sight blades tight? Is the action tight in the stock?Maybe it's the ammo? My airsporter was hopeless with anything other than eley wasp 5.6 . Dont rest the gun on a hard surface to shoot, this will ruin the accuracy of a spring gun.Just a few things to try. Although you probably know this already.

No i didnt know that already haha cheers for the tips i will have a little fiddle this evening with the action. funnily enough im using the same pellets you are, eley wasp 5.6, the same pellets i used it with when i was 8 and my grandad was teaching me to shoot! The fore sight is definitely tight. any idea how i can check the rear sight? and im guessing the action screws are the two slot headed screws near the fore end of the rifle? FalconFN
As said above, are you resting the barrel on anything when shooting? As that will send pellets everywhere. What sort of range are we talking here?
Mr Majyk
first few shots were rested but then i went to free standing and got the "good group" kept firing standing then got another rubbish group. this rifle has a huge sentimental value to me, id never get rid of it even if i couldnt hit a barn at point blank but id like it if i could get it working properly. range was roughly 12.5 m i havent used it since it was serviced a year or so ago so maybe something is loose? NIGHT SEARCHER
Hi bud you say that it was serviced last year. It could be over greased on the spring or piston. Have you tried cleaning the barrel. It will need 30 shoots though it just to relead the barrel before it becomes accurate. Also the stock screws need to be tight you have two at the front of the stock and the main one is the trigger guard screws one is very long and screws in to the back of action. How old are the pellets that your using if they are oxidised bin them. And try a tin of RWS super domes i have ten rifles and they work well in them all. The only other thing that i can think of is there a silencer fitted to the gun if so it could be slightiy out of line and the pellets clipping the silencer and giving you flyers. I would put a couple of hundred pellets though it and see if it beds in.
lineshooter
Try some different pellets, I only ever used Wasp`s in my Webley Omega the ones that had Eley Wasp on the tin, it will not shoot the newer Wasp`s, apparently they are of a poorer quality now. As said Superdomes are good and also Falcon Accuracy.
Mr Majyk
cheers for the tips guys, i tightened up the all the screws holding it to the stock, cleaned the barrel out again and bought some new wasp pellets as the old ones had oxidised so i'll melt them down to something new. seems to be shooting a little better so i'll keep running it in and see how it goes. will only be using it for 10ish meter shots so provided i can get a pound coin grouping that shoud be good enough for popping of pigeons. as far as cleaning out to much grease in the piston im not so sure how to do that, ive heard a few horror story bout pistons to the gut form people taking apart springers so i think i'll leave that as a last resort but it seems to be behaving itself at the moment. cheers again people :good:
