Theskyfox
Well originally I was using decoys and they worked a treat....bought the pigeons right down next to them. Recently however the pigeons on this land just ignore them now...Ive tired various positioning and placement but they just don't seem to want to know. I've also got seed and water down but they still just won't come down. Any ideas what I can do for more success? I am well concealed and out of the way and I wait a few hours....Im not looking at spending vast amounts of money, but I would ideally like something simple but effective which brings the woodies down onto the range. Maybe its just the time of year with the abundance of food? any input would be appreciated, it just seems strange that they go from liking the decoys to totally ignoring them -Andrew
Mungler
I always find that lofting woodies into the trees works a treat - I think that lofting is just such aggro and that few people do it that it's still novel to the woodies and they aren't suspicious. If you loft a few into a busy tree under a flight line it works better than a magnet because they can be seen from miles away and it gives them confidence to come in. pin
Lofting deffo. We were getting sod all the other day until they went up and it pulled them in off the flightline to have a looksee
Theskyfox
So just to clarify, does that mean to put the woody decoys into the trees, so that they are visible from real woodies flying across the top? I'll give it a try and see if it works.
mossy835
you have to do something differrent now, because they are catching on to the magnet, i had to take mine in on friday and saturday then a few more would come in.but i will still use it. Last time out we put some up into the hedge we had at our backs and it made a difference - even if they were not wanting what we were sat in front of the difference was obvious. Birds that were going to ignore the pattern anyway chose to fly over the top of us rather than around us - if we had been on it a bit more we could have had a load more off the flightline. IMO deffinately worth a go, it works for me
