bedwards1966
On a synthetic stock, remove the rubber butt pad, it's 2 Phillips head screws. There is a plastic piece just under the rubber pad, this might need two more screws removing to take it off, it's fairly obvious when you've removed the butt pad. You'll now see into the stock, and there is a stud that goes through the stock from the receiver, it's held on by 1 nut (13mm head). You will need a socket on an extension bar, sometimes you need a deep socket. Undo that and it's a simple matter of adding the shims, the shims say on them what they do and how to fit them, but if you just think about it for a minute you should be able to work out which way to fit them to get the desired result. When putting it together you have to get the nut and 2 washers back on the stud, this can be a little bit tricky. A magnetic screwdriver helps, I've also used a bit of thread to lower them in place. It can be fiddly, but it's not too bad. I've never done a wooden stock, I imagine they'd be similar.

Hold the gun barrel up so you can put the nut in thesocket and balance the washer on top. You could always sit the edge of the butt on the edge of a table to support the weight so it's easier to hold one handed.
