tweedledee
guys does anyone have first hand experience with a steyr pro hunter in 222,i came across a new one priced at 900 and wondering what your thoughts are? is a tikka/sako a better bet in that price range? gixer1
I've heard bad things about the new mannlicher - which is surprising as a fried had an old one and it was amazingly accurate, built like a tank, looked good an was never cleaned in ten years! I guess the quality has just dropped a bit :( The tikka's and sako's still have a great rep though Think you will be more for the sako though... Beardo
Keep clear if it's a MK1 as the stock flexes unacceptably. Steyr have stiffened it in the Mk2. Quality wise it's top notch. I have a Mk2 Pro Hunter Mountain in 6.5x55 and it's fantastic.
tweedledee
found another on a local dealers in 223.defo the later model. what kind of mounts does this rifle use??? read somewhere the scope sits quite high due to mounts. does this make for an uncomfortable shooting position??? Beardo
you may be confusing that with the Scout (which has a weaver rail). the pro hunter can be fitted with normal bases (like the leupold quick release etc.) - mine has a S&B 2.5-10x56 which is about 3mm away from the barrel. tweedledee
handled one the other day,and whilst not the prettiest i fell in love with it. all i need now is the cash lol
Beardo
the Pro Hunter can use the same bases as the Browning A-Bolt apparently (Talley do some good bases as well)
