Making a new stock

HI all

I have been toying with the idea of making a new stock for my .22 CZ452 Silhouette. I have made stocks for air rifles, both Springer and PCP, so I am happy enough with the carpentry side of things.

My questions are:- Does the action have to be bedded in or is a good snug fit in the wood ok? As the new stock would be made of wood I assume I would have to make the barrel free floating. How much of the barrels length should rest on the forend and how much should be free floating? As the barrel on the Silhouette is not floated I have no way to gauge this. The barrel is the standard actory length.

Can anyone help?

Many thakns.
