Browning425clayhunter-is your post directed at me?-try reading "help required bicester oxford area" in general shooting matters-last post on the 19th May.Flynny-I am amazed at your ability to determine someones personality without knowing the remotest thing about them-and to do so whilst running so fast to jump on the bandwagon is indeed worthy of praise.Opinions vary but I presumed we are able to air our own to encourage debate,if you dont agree with someone then spend more time saying why and less time hurling abuse.

Wow my post seems to have caused a stir ! Bruno22rf - I don't see a huge difference between your post "help required" and what proTom offers on a regular basis so not sure why what he does attracted so much flak.

As for Flynny and his ability to determine your personality without knowing much about you, I rather felt the same with your description of my inexperience. I've been shooting 5 years. I'm a member of 2 game syndicates (one driven one walked up) and shoot a number of days at other driven and walked up shoots. I've had lessons on clays with some very experienced and well qualified guys. I'd just never decoyed pigeon, hence me seeking help. I thought a bit of humour around me missing (note MISSING not wounding) a number of birds was in keeping with a number of other posts I'd read.

I've no problem with you airing your views, though I can see others would leave PW in the face of such things. And I do question how on earth you get experience without doing it, particularly in light of my clay shooting / game shooting experience. If you learnt to drive without taking a car on the road, learnt to swim without ever going in a pool etc then I take my hat off to you. Not sure I'd say the same as regards losing your virginity to a blow up doll but, as you infer, none of us know the remotest thing about you so I'll not dwell on that.

Let's all move on. ProTom does a great job. Clearly you are a decent bloke at heart given your very kind offer in Bicster way. And there are plenty of others on here that display similar traits. Let's encourage more to be like that and we all win. As does the sport I assume we all hold dear (I know some on here view some of it as solely pest control but still I assume they must enjoy it at least a tiny bit).

My apologies SNS-your post did seem to rather point to you being a total novice-the humour was not so obvious to me.My intention was not to belittle you or your efforts but simply to suggest that if you were as inexperienced as you were indicating you might be wiser to gain more experience before shooting live quarry-a harmless enough comment,I thought, and I made no derogatory remarks whatsoever regarding your mentor-nor would I consider doing so without knowing him.BTW-took 2 total novices out last Sunday and will be shadowing another newbie using my rifle next Sunday-I only get every other Sunday to shoot so I seem to be doing my bit :good:

Yes Bruno it was directed at you. I wasn't having a go merely pointing out that the op and people like myself (self confessed noobie) don't need people saying unless your experienced maybe you shouldn't be out there having a go.

My point is everyone has to start somewhere and there are a lot of good people on here who are willing to take noobs out and hopefully teach them the right way to do things. I didn't think it was right as I'm in the position of the people protom will be taking out for someone to get more practice in when proper shooting in my mind would be so different to doing clays.

I understand your concern about getting a humane kill but let's be honest. I'm sure there are experts who still clip the odd one now and then.

Just to go off course a little bit there was a thread today saying someone is thinking of leaving this site because of morons ( I'm probably one of them) but recently I've found there to be alot of decent people who will offer to take out strangers just because of their love of the sport and understanding of how hard it can be to get out and do some proper shooting.

I'm one of these trying to get out and to see someone putting a downer on the idea annoyed me somewhat, but everyone is entitled to there opinion.

I say live and let live, unless it's within range, then it's bang, bang :o

Had a top afternoon out.

Tom put me on a field with plenty of birds coming over and checked regularly to see how it was going.

It was just a shame my eye was not in as much as I would of liked and to top it off my gun jammed twice at the critical moment on the easiest birds of the day.

Cheers Tom :good:
