Ant8681
I woke up early this morning, had no plans of shooting but found myself staring out the window at 4.30am wondering what was eating my nuts, only one way to find out I thought! I was out the door by 5am and in the hide by ten past, by 5.30 I had bagged my first jackdaw he made the mistake of landing in a tree above my baited area at 45 yards it was an easy shot. Half an hour more went past and thoughts of the snake from yesterday were still bouncing around my head making me feel slightly uneasy, every rustle in the leaves had the pulse racing! At half 6 I was considering making a move to another permission when a jay caught my eye, he made his way up through the tree line and perched on the log quickly making off with a nut. I readied the rifle for his next apperance and waited. With the gun mounted it seemed like an age until he showed himself but when he did I was ready, I squeezed the last of the trigger and he was dead on the floor. http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r559/Ant8681/DSC00221.jpg After the jay i decided to make a move to another permission to have a crack at the bunnies. When I arrived I poked my head over the gate and saw 2 pigeon perched on top of a dead tree, I have paced it out before and its about 60 yards so I gave it a bit with no wind it was a perfect head shot and he came tumbling down, his mate hesitated but not long enough for me to take another shot. I stalked on past the domestic rabbit pens and spotted a wabbit giving himself a clean but with 4 layers of chicken wire between me and him it wasnt a safe shot, It took me about 20 minutes to get the 20 or so yards I needed for a safe shot and he was a gonner! Upon inspection it appears the rabbit had myxie so I best be telling the lady who owns the animal sanctuary! At nearly 8 am and feeling rather pleased with myself I headed home for breakfast! http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r559/Ant8681/DSC00222.jpg Not something I like to see! http://i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r559/Ant8681/DSC00223.jpg
