RossEM
Hi all My employer has asked me to look into applying for an RFD licence on their behalf, how complicated a procedure will this be? I'm guessing it's a tad more long winded than grant of a SGC/FAC!! How does it work? A bit of background...I work for an auctioneers in Thames Valley Police's area who are wanting to develop their Sporting Sales this year. Any advice? Thanks
cant hit rabbits 123
Are auctioneers not exempt from being RFD's in order to handle firearms for sale? Or at least can get an exemptment certificate like clay grounds have for non cert holders to shoot?

Exemption wouldn't allow them to sell to the general public IIRC best thing to do is phone the FLD for your area, the forms and guidance are all online, I would guess you will need secure storage and possibly a business plan. RossEM
Cheers, the premises are VERY secure having a safe vault, security coded doors, alarms etc etc. Had a look at the forms online...strangely they seem less complicated than SGC/FAC applications... Yep about contacting the FLD; they're there to help. Under the Firearms Act and the exemptions from the need for a certificate, auctioneers come under circumstantial exemptions. However, a permit from the police is required. As indicated your circumstances may be that a full blown RFD set up may be the answer for you. Andy H
If your employer is paying the process should be fairly painless , The enhanced security checks and paperwork should take no longer than an FAC/SGC as long as you can show a commercial need for it and meet the security specifications , Also your RFD ticket does not even have a photo on it and is a single one sided sheet. You can get a specific auctioneers permit but I think that a permit is required for each particular auction sale so it is probably too much hassle of you are going to be holding regular firearms auctions. It's probably easier to get an RFD. J.
