hillmouse Posted June 5, 2012 Report Share Posted June 5, 2012 Slugs will devestate sunflowers. They will take the cotyledons off before they emerge above the ground. You need to look really closley to see brown mushy stumps just level with the soil surface, by which time it is too late to do anything about it. Yes, definitely apply slug pellets. Alycidon Posted June 7, 2012 Report Share Posted June 7, 2012 I put dog food into one of my tunnel traps as bait, it went EVERY night without the trap being triggered, next to a game plot and rape crop. pro keeper Posted July 3, 2012 Report Share Posted July 3, 2012 john, slugs love all crops pretty much but it depends on how many you have and also be aware of the new spanish super slug which can be the size of a corn cob! if in doubt pellet the swines out.
