Paddy Galore!
Are the moderators on a rim fire .22 the same as air rifles ,if so why do you need a slot on ya fac nope, they SHOULD be proofed, and the construction of some air rifle moderators won't take the abuse of a powder burner, check out djgeoffs post about his moderator, if you tried that on a rimmie it'd last all of maybe ten minutes. not sure why you need a slot on your ticket for one, guess it's got something to do with having a need for one. bedwards1966
Moderators are classed as a firearm, so to buy one for a gun that requires a certificate you need to have a slot for the moderator too, even just to use one on that gun. It's a bit daft when it comes to the rim-fires, if I go into a RFD and ask for a mod for my .22lr it will have to be put on ticket as a firearm, the police notified and it must be kept in the cabinet. Yet I can buy the same moderator and say it's for an air-gun and just walk out with it! Edited June 7, 2012 by bedwards1966

Frenchieboy
:hmm: So if I want to change my mod on the Cz .22 I can buy one for a air rifle ,if not do I sell the one I have send Fac of to police to get it changed then go and buy a new one As I believe it - If you already have a Moderator on your ticket and have one fitted on your rimfire then there is nothing to stop you buying let's say a new SAK moderator for your air rifle and swapping the moderators, using the existing one on your rimfire on your air rifle and vice versa - As long as the one on your ticket is not registered with any serial number. (On my FAC the mod for my .22LR is listed as:- Calibre -.22RF, Makers Name: Unknown, Type: Sound Moderator, Action: N/A, Serial Number: SM) However, whatever moderator you get for your rimfire it really does need to be proofed for that calibre (Minimum) as a standard "Air Rifle Moderator" will not last any time at all and could blow apart! If in any doubt check with your FEO as a Firearms Moderator classes as a part of that firearm and must be "on ticket"!

Livefast123
In the case of a SAK they are exactly the same item and the law is an ***. I had a SAK on my Falcon air rifle and when I sold it I wanted to transfer the SAK onto my CZ .22LR. I phoned the FEO and explained the situation who referred me to the manager and I was told to write it in on my cert as an unknown, unmarked black moderator and that would be fine
