1 of 5
Since I started shotgunning 10 months ago I've used exclusively plastic wads as there's no livestock at all on the land I shoot. They use plastic where I go claying so I've carried on with what I've started with. I recently tried some fibre wads however as I was caught short and the local shop didn't have any plastic ones in. The wad literally fell apart on exiting the barrels having been burnt to pieces and I could hit sod all with the cartridges. Is this normal for fibre wad or just a poor batch/brand I got. The brand were Henry Kranks own brand 30g/No.6.
dodeer
I had the same sort of problems using Pigeon special carts . Find that a Eley VIP is just fine, or a Winchester GB. It's nor, ally the cheaper ones which this hppens to.
Hammergun
Try different brands as they all have different shot patterns. Have you tried Super XLR? Most events only allow fibre wad nowadays, as do also many shoots. Pesonally I hate plastic wads and would never use them They look really bad littering the countryside. neil
As sam says, its usually the cheaper carts that are the problem but i do find it can vary from batch to batch, alot of clay shoots down here are fibre only,as a rule i use eley vip for these
.223
all the shoots round here are fibres only and me and alot of friends swear by Gamebore Blue Diamond or White Gold as the best. Blue Diamond 28gm fibre 7's cost about £25 a box white gold same cost about £27 i have broke clays out to 55yrds regulary with these carts.
