Southern Gun
If its anything like the Army team mate,i would tell him not to bother :o they are very "clicky" and most are only average shots who stay on the team because they are mates time and time again i have seen them out shot by new guns, but they retain there team place And before anyone jumps on my post and tell me im talking rubbish,i have witnessed this many times myself i am speaking from EXPERIENCE BB Well thats how they operated a few years back anyway things might have changed but i very much doubt it Edited June 21, 2012 by Southern Gun

The current directive I write rely s on scores from Inter Service ESP Shoots held 6 times a year and shoots like the Classic, Beretta World, ES Shoots and the Army Champs to name a few, I do not select my team because I like them but because they can obtain the highest score possible for my top 10 we have raised our game considerably and have a development squad that requires shooters to be a minimum of C class capability with anyone in the Army Team being B Class or above, if your scores do not reach the top 15 then you only shoot as part of the ADS and not Army Team. Our team spirit is the highest it has ever been with overseas tours open to anyone and considerable funding available to support coaching at all levels. If as you say you are that good and did not get the chance a few years ago come and join us at the next shoot I can be contacted on 3CDOX-24-RAO through our military system and we would be more than happy to consider your talents. Things have changed a lot in the last 2 years and if you are not aware maybe you should come and see for yourself. Bluebarrels
Sg no disrespect to you and im glad to hear things have changed, but i speak as i find and this was certainely the case a few years back like you say it should be on the ability of the person, not because hes a mate :o If things have now changed like you say, that can only be a credit to you,but as i said before the Army team i witnessed over a couple of years were "clicky" and retained team places even with bad scores BB

I am always looking out for new shooters it keeps those at the top on their toes as their place is never safe if their scores drop. Best wishes and let me know if you fancy shooting. Northern Gunner
I might just do that at some point it sounds more of a level playing field than in the past atb BB and welcome to PW Hi BB, I have shot at Army level from 1995 when the team first formed and for the first few years it was a joy to represent the Army at Inter Service Shoots but the whole concept changed when the powers to be decided to go down the olympic dicipline route and every aspect was aimed at individuals own goals. I stopped shooting for the Army as I felt they were focussing on a chosen few instead of encouraging new blood into the sport. The current Team Captain along with Col Jed Argyle has changed all that and now all is rosy with lots of new talent been encouraged and as Southern Gun stated, team tours and coaching sessions all been well supported. Please don't be put off by the old regime which is now dead and buried. Happy shooting!!

Well not at wekends or when it's raining. Tell him I hope it wont be the first trg day , were trying to get more funds for our own ground . Tell him to get hold of me , come shooting. We have instructors who's time is free ! PM me if you want more details to pass on mate . As for the Team being "clicky" it ain't. There are not many Officers in it , and the team is about ability and also bringing new talent to the sport. We have a selected 20 that get full support , then we ask others along for experience in shooting quality targets in competetion.I have to say all 3 service teams do the same , gone are the days of the clique. In fact I can honestly say , the whole inter service shooting scene is a friendly one. I totally agree, The Army Team is doing wonders for bringing new blood into the sport, setting a great example that others have picked up on and are now following.
