BangBangNik
I haven't been down the farm for a few weeks so thought I would ignore the weather forecast and have ago at the crows this morning. I got here and set up for about 5 but there was very little about. Had a few crows fly into my decoys and managed to bag 2 of them. As I sat there waiting I couldn't believe my eyes but there were 2 little bunnies heading towards my hide. At last, I thought, something I can finally eat! Before you know it BANG BANG and I had shot my first rabbit and also my second rabbit within seconds of each other. After the excitement had died down I remembered reading that the sooner you skin them the less smelly they seem to be an also remembering that the mrs is baking cakes all morning in the kitchen I thought I would have ago at skinning them in the feild. Obviously having never shot a rabbit before I have never prepared one either. Drawing on all the knowledge I had gained from watching people effortlessly gutting and skinning them on YouTube Im ashamed to say I actually thought about slinging them under the nearest bush and never telling a soul of the day I shot my first rabbits. Then I thought **** it........ Man up, that's why you shot them. So out came the knife. On inspection one of them was alot heavier then the other with quite alot of milk seeping out of it, so with visions of slicing it open and finding a belly full of baby bunnies I thought I'd start with the other and see how that went. What a ******* mess! But I persivered and managed in a fashion to gut my first rabbit. In for a penny I thought so I cracked on with the other and fortunately no baby bunnies. Now I just have to skin, wash and cook em. Safe to say I'm one happy bunny(oh yes, I just said that)

Frenchieboy
Well done on your first rabbits Nik! I can see where your problem lies mate - you are only used to shooting clays and they don't take much skinning do they? See you for the clay shoot tomorrow mate (Sunday), meet at mine at the usual time. It's a 50 bird DTL shoot for the Ellenrod Cup tomorrow. We have (Hopefully) two more PW members that I have been in contact with turning up to shoot clays with us tomorrow so we can put a few more faces to the names. Keep going at this rate and we could organise a clay shoot for PW Members against Chadderton Rifle & Pistol Club - That could be an interesting one!
BangBangNik
Cheers guys. As you well know Pete when I hit a clay it turns to dust There's nothing left to even consider skinning I have got Paul's carts and looking forward to tomorrow. Always nice to put faces to names so it'll be good if they come. Hope the weathers on our side but it doesn't seem to matter either way it's always a good laugh. See you tomorrow. Also I have just skinned them now and I have to say I need more practice, the gutting was a peice of **** in comparison. Frenchieboy
You're right there mate, I will have to try some cartridges with some shot in them so that I can dust a few the way that you do! Looking forward to tomorrow, like you said, no matter what the weather it's always a good laugh! It looks like tomato soup for tomorrow if that's OK with you mate! Frenchieboy
I've just checked the weather for tomorrow on the BBC Forecast. It's looking a bit more hopefull than today so I am only likely to get soaked today while I am bowling - Nothing new there then! p.s. Can't promise but I believe that Marlene is going to bake a chocolate cake filled with fresh cream - If she does we might find a few slices making their way to the clay grounds. Fingers crossed! BangBangNik
You guys going shooting? or on a picnic ? :yp: Just because we are going shooting doesn't mean we can't be comfy and well fed Nice bag Nik. What you going to make with them? Pie or stew? Well I was going to make a stew but as is pretty obvious I do like a good pie so I think that's what it going to have to be.
