Looking to get a Hawke night eye 4-16x50 with center illuminated 30/30 reticule and AO for my S410 FAC

while my mate is getting Hawke 3-10x44 with full illuminated 30/30 reticule for his sub 12 ft//lbs theoben.

Anybody got any views on illuminated reticules and is full or center best option?

I have the 30/30 AO IR Centre - Its too much scope by a long way for the s410 legal limit - would probably be a nice scope for the FAC, even that its a bit much.

The Ill. Rect. bit, having had it I don't see the advantage. I have shot a lot early and late and to be honest its all about 1) stopping extra light hitting your eye unless it came down the scope or 2) having a larger objective.

At least for me it is, anway

I find the IR can be very useful at times, during a sunny day when your target is in dark shadows you tend to loose the crosshair and the IR works a treat, a similar thing can happen at dusk too. I sometimes use it at night too, but to be totaly honest, its used very little. I think they work better on scopes with a very fine recticle as these can be lost in the shadows easier.

But as for centre or full illumination, I would say centre is better as it will give less glare, which is why alot of people don't use IR.
