I'm with you pavman.

Until the punishment fits the crime, in the eyes of the general public, then there is no incentive to stop doing this kind of thing.

I often wonder what would happen to me if I did this, stole a handbag. I would get caught and get screwed over properly. Loose my job, get a criminal conviction and a propper hiding financially. Mr scumbag has nothing to loose and everything to gain.

If some scumbag does it, he'd be unlucky to get caught in the first place, and in the unlikely event he was caught wouldn't show up in court anwyay. Small fine and some sort of court order, the fine will go unpaid and the court summons will be ignored resulting in a warrant which may be executed if he gets caught doing something else but not before.

Now, if you knew the penalty for being caught was a sound thrashing, in public, from a sadistic plonker with a massive piece of birch - you might think twice. Would only take a few people getting caught for the word to gfet round what a sate you'd be in after a good hiding, I know it would make a lot of people think twice about it.

I will also be discussing with Tesco tomorrow, why there are no CCTV cameras in their car parks and plenty of uniformed security staff in the Store, but none in the car park ?

What responsibility do they have for the safety of their customers, 85% of which must be women ?

Nobody from Tescos came into the carpark and even offered my Wife a cup of tea.

They were aware of the incident, because the Police went to the front door first and were directed to the carpark.

Methinks the telephone will glow red hot. :good:

Unfortunately, I think you will find that they offer no security for customers using the Car Park. You will most likely find a disclaimer in the Car Park that says something like 'Patrons use the car park at their own risk' etc.

The security gaurds are only there to protect Tesco's interest i.e. shop theives, violence to staff, fire & safety issues, etc, etc,.

I doubt you will get much more than a sympathetic response to any challenges you make to them.

Its harsh I know, but thats the way it is. I'm just glad your wife and mother were unharmed.
