I have a cd rewriter in my PC tower and I have a seperate DVD ROM

I want to replace the CD rewriter with a DVD rewriter

Are they easy to install ?

Do I need to load some software for the pc to recognise the new hardware ?

What make do you recommend ?

And mostly importantly how much to expect to pay ?

Cheers. Keep it simple for a F77kwit

Simply power down the pc, remove lid (and front panel on some models) undo screws holding the cdr in place, slide forward to get better access to the plugs at the rear and remove them. As you have a dvd rom installed, your cd will be it's slave, as will the dvdrw... look for a series of pins in the back of the drive, and check that the same two have been joined together by a jumper plug. swap and replace. refit is a reversal of above.

When you power up your pc will find new hardware and guide you through the process mate... nothing complicated. here are some prices.

I personaly use either pioneer or liteon brands.
