M ROBSON
Try using a Baby doll on a floating line and strip it across the surface with a fast retrieve, its worked for me in the past, especially late in the evening. You stand a good chance of a big Trout too.
Cranfield
Most coarse fish will take flies and feathered lures. I have even caught tench to 7lbs on a Montana, fished slow, tight on the bottom. The conditions are more important than choice of fly. The best conditions are low light, early morning, or evenings. Claydon
Ive had quite a few perch on a Pearly Pheasent Tail, fished on an intermeadiate line through the margins, three or four fast jerks pause for second and then the same again. I try to use a size 10/12 fly on a long shanked hook, this size with the movement seems to imitate fry and this is what they are waiting to ambush, the thing to do is keep the movement going even when you see a fish following in fact i usually speed up as this is what a natural would do if a predator came into view. As said by M Robson you are also in with a chance of a trout.
