Richard.Hosgood
Possible daft question, but is it worth setting up in a field full of bullocks for crow decoying? The flightline is good, but my concern is the walking steak will demolish the decoys each time its their visit on their laps of the field, ruining my cover when I have to reset them, and maybe even take a liking my hide and me and making a friend for the day? Or, once the initial investigation in to what I am and that I have no food has been undertaken, will they ****** off and leave me to it without a problem? al4x
depends on how big the field is I don't like your chances and obviously if the hide is in the field there is a safety issue especially if you have a dog. Some will just clear off and leave you to it but bullocks in particular can do the opposite and be curious and then stupidly start charging about for no good reason. Have a word with the farmer and see what he reckons.
Ferret Master
I'm going to put my money on the bullocks considering you to be the most interesting thing that has happened to them all week. As a result you will be relentlessly followed, your hide tasted and your decoys trampled and crapped on til kingdom come! I personally wouldn't bother! If you escape their attention initially they will rampage in for closer inspection the moment you fire your first shot! FM
dougall
Cows are funny b&***ers, talk to the farmer first though.also fair chance can move them to different field, which is best bet.If cows/calves involved a dog is v.dangerous.If bullocks, probably no issues but it is far more relaxing just moving them out for the day. Richard.Hosgood
thought as much, I will give it a miss if they are in the field, or try and get them in another for the day! No dog with me, and they are generally well behaved but that's just walking through, setting stall in a hide may be a different matter! Annoyingly I was all set today to decoy a field with a great flight line and he had moved them in to the field yesterday to graze off the grass! Hence the question cheers!
