That's a well made video mate! :good:

I have to say that the first squizzer in the video wasn't too pleased about you ruining his day was he? :lol::lol::lol:

Good shooting and filming! :good::good::good:

Thank you again. He certainly was not happy, just wish I had zoomed out in time as it landed in the bird bath! :lol:

I was having this discussion with someone and I got told "A rook by itself is a crow, a crow in a group is a rook" so what is it? :hmm: :hmm:

There were two of them so......

Basically rooks have longer, pale beaks (and without the feathers near the nostrils), they are slightly different shape - especially the heads, and they are, in my opinion, much less a pest than crows. I normally don't shoot them as, on balance, I think they probably do more good than harm, but that's just my opinion.

Hmmm ;)

You mean something like a supository administered by a 23 stone Irish navvy weilding a sledge hammer?

Something like that :lol:

I was always told "A Rook on it's own is a Crow but Crow in a Crowd is a Rook" Surely we don't get Crow-er-ies?

Im sure I will get some flack for this but you should be aware that you should have good reason to shoot wild birds attending your Garden bird table. The fact that you may dislike them and they are on the general licence is irrelevant. Shooting wild birds attending a bird table is an offence under the Countryside and Wildlife act and the RSPB/RSPCA presented with such evidence will always attempt to force a prosecution.

If the pigeons and crows were eating your crops or stealing food for domestic fowl thats a different matter but even the humble Jackdaw and villainous Magpie and Rook are afforded some protection by the law. If you have a genuine reason to shoot quarry which is on the general licence then you'll will be shooting within the confines of the law. You will more like fall foul of the law if you just enjoy hunting something for the fun of it.

Nothing does the airgunner more harm than the publics perception of us killing any avian pest that lands in our garden.

The desire to shoot in your own garden is strong I appreciate this particularly as shooting land isn't easy to come by and the temptation to put your skills to use on live quarry is intense particularly when you read the accounts of others hunting sorties on this site. You should ask yourself however, if the garden is really a suitable place to do it.

I cant fault the video or your marksmanship though... both are very good.

Light the blue touch paper and stand back.....

They are a pest in other parts of the garden and of course they have tried other means of control but it just happens that the safest and most responsible place to take a shot is at the bird table, I would not kill just for the fun of it! Maybe I should have put this on the video, I shall make sure of that next time, thank you for pointing it out :good:

Well done...I would be tempted to take it off of youtube though...just to be safe..particularly if you have over zealous neighbours or the local animal rights activist see it.

Ah the neighbours are having issues with them too, I am 100% confident I can justify my actions otherwise I would not have pulled the trigger, thanks for your advice though :good:
