An angler out on Sea otter 2 today has apparently landed a 40lb+ Halibut...

Kayak match on today too out of Runswick so maybe keep an eye on whitby sea angling forum for more detailed reports and what worked and what didn't.

Hoping to get out with Malcolm on Sea spray in the next few weeks.

Malcolms a great guy and will do all he can to get you on the fish! He sponsored us for our Norway trip too along with his partners shop. Whitby sea fishing supplies. They do some cracking crab cart cheap and have tonnes of squid. Their shop is dead opposite the car park too where you get on the boat. Pop in and stock up. Whilst in there have a look at the pics on the wall from our trip of the cod we landed on his own 'Pitman' special rigs. Those rigs landed us the 40lb cod. Just get there early for parking though.

You'll have a good day with Malcolm. Hope you bag up. :good:

I was out on Sunday also, though from Bridlington. We fished the smaller near shore wrecks out to about 3-4 miles. Plenty of mackeral, some very big ones too. Fishing was a bit slow for the first 3 hours because of wind/tide/current conflicts but things settled down later in the afternoon. I landed 2 nice ling, 1 good cod, and a bunch of 'other' stuff. The boat had a bunc of cod to ~12 lb, a bunch of ling to about the same size, plus a few other random bits. Not a bad day.

Made some ling in the oven last night topped with Chorizo, garlic, cherry tomatoes and spring onion. Delicious. Might make it again tonight.

thanks

rick

i would mind knowing which boat you went on too

went of anglesey last year but got fed up catching dog fish, caught nothing edible ie cod, mackerel, ling etc

if the fishings good of bridlington, i dont mind the 3 hour trip

hi guys,

I responded by PM, but didn't realize there were so many notes on here.

We were on the yorkshire gentleman (or yorkshire guy) as opposed to the yorkshire Lass. We fished from Brid up to nearly staithes out to about 4 miles off shore. It was tough going in the morning with the tide and wind directions/level but once the tide slowed a bit and we could position right on top of the wrecks we did better. You still had to work for them of course, but they were there (tight to the wrecks).

thanks

rick
