First Shooting Lesson

So yesterday I went for my first clay shooting lesson. What can I say, it was brilliant. I went over to shugborough/oakedge and had my lesson with Brian Goring. I'd shot before on stag do's and stuff like that but it had been a long time since I'd even touched a shotgun. Brian put me at ease and had a very good teaching style. I felt comfortable and confident. I payed £65 for about an hour and a half and 100 carts. At £65 I didn't feel that it was cheap but after the lesson I came away thinking that it was worth every penny!

To top off my morning, I came home from the shooting ground and my shotgun certificate had come through the letter box! My first shotgun is calling me!

Just thought that I'd share that with u all because I'd had such a positive experience. I'd recommend Brian and Oakedge to anyone.

Well done mate ,nice to see you've taken the time to give a thumbs up to your teacher.

£65 for 1 1/2 hours and a hundred or so carts is seriously good value for money mate ,carts on average are about £5 for a box of 25,so you actually got the lesson for £45 which works out at £30 and hour .

Beleive me mate that is one of the best value teachers around .

If you are new to the sport, you will not go far wrong with visiting Oakedge. Mr. Goran is a really nice bloke, and at those prices it is a steal. 100 cartridges = £16 to £20, 100 clays £22 to £28 at most grounds and one and half hours tuition.

Note:- I said tuition, not button pressing, that is absolutely marvellous value, all you have to do now is get yourself off to Sporting Supplies in Bloxwich or Premier guns at Doveridge and tell them Peter Harris sent you to buy a gun and you will get an even better deal. Welcome to the World of shooting, enjoy yourself. :D :D :D :D

Well done Gunfire & welcome to Clay shooting. Brian is an excellent instructor & you picked a good ground to begin your shooting habit

I would advise you to try a few guns first dont rush in or you may be chopin & changing. If you have any friends that shoot or fancy a walk round with some of the lads on a saturday morning at Doveridge then just PM me. You'll find most shooters will be very helpful.

Good Luck :good: :good:

Gunfire, carry on having a few lessons and if the bug has still got you, if you have the disposable income you buy yourself a gun, whether you are enthusiastic or cautious if you enjoy shooting as much as Claybuster and I do you will end up accumulating guns anyway. Why? Because we deserve them :D

Ask Keith for one of his, it looks like he has far too many.

Thanks for your support guys. I have definitely got the bug.

I realise now that those tuition fees were actualy very reasonable!

I intend to keep on with the lessons and I have a few friends that shoot so i will try to get some practice with them. I'm about 30 mins from both Doveridge and West Midlands Shooting Ground and I believe both grounds will let you try their second hand guns before you buy? I deffo need to get my hands on some different guns before I buy my own.

Thanks again
