THE GRIFF
On multichoke shotguns when using steel shot a half choke is classed as full choke, does this mean a 3 inch magnum wildfowling fixed choke shotgun that is advertised as fully choked is really a half choke when using lead loads. Interesting if the choke is fixed at 40 thou i dont think it would get steel proof if its fixed at 20thou then i think you are right. Choke being a constriction relative to bore. coyotemaster
If you have access and inclination the answer to your question lies at the range with the shells you would use and a patterning board. Constriction is a guide, the proof is in the patterns the gun will throw. Good time to find out if it shoots where you look as well.
