chrispti
Just after any advice please, I cant engage any gears. Has the clutch gone? I can put the car in gear and then start it and it will chug forward and eventually go, but no clutch..... so its not the gears or linkages... Any ideas please? Tam
Have you got pressure in the clutch pedal might be the slave cylinder - I think they are inside the g/box but may be wrong

welsh1
Dual mass flywheel. I had the same in my st220,could force the car into gear and then start it to chugg forward,it's the splines that have gone,i don't know how much the c max would cost to fix,but my st220 was £998,new flywheel and clutch done while box was out(this makes sense while it is out),avoid ford, they wanted £1500 to do the job. Hope it is something easier, and cheaper, and i am wrong.
88b
Is it a petrol or diesel . The slave cylinder is part of the release bearing and is inside the bell housing. It sounds like the clutch is not engaging, the C Max is tight under the bonnet, but see if you can get to the bleed nipple and try bleeding the clutch. If the fluid in the reservoir gets low the clutch loses fluid before the brakes

88b
Tis a petrol, where will i find the bleed nipple? Thanks all On top of the transaxle slightly to the front about six inches in from the engine, the will by a hydraulic pipe going into the slave cyl next to it. The bleed nipple may be a conventional one or one you turn with your fingers.

Just had the garage call . . . . . this seems to be their diagnosis too Not what you need 4 weeks before your baby's due

If you have a friendly independent garage that can do it they will be a lot cheaper than a ford garage, and probably do a lot better job. It is a local garage doing the work , would never go main dealer
