harpoonlouis
Got an X Trail dumped at a friends garage and the owner is looking for a small sum to get rid of it. It has no drive in any gear and you can engage any slot in the box without dipping the clutch. Consensus un the workshop is that he has completely mullered the clutch but I have never come across a clutch so completely worn out that you don't get any drive or even a clunk when operating the gear shift with the clutch full up. Anyone with experience of this? No visible damage down under and no oil leakes
drut
Havn't met this on X-Trail but have on many others, last was a Skoda Fabia 1.4 driven by an old neighbour who really rode the clutch. No drive,no resistance to changing gear:just no response. So yes it can be clutch & it is most probably the likely answer & a really good gamble but certainly not the only one. wymberley
I'll go with drut - I've had two. But - and here's the problem, I can't remember what its called - the 'stability control' or whatever it is switch must be 'OFF' when off roading 'in the rough'. I have absolutely no idea if this could cause the problem but I do know that there's a hell of a noise if you forget to hit the switch. Just a thought and probably way off beam! harpoonlouis
Thanks for that, will bear it in mind. Sounds a bit like not disengaging the 4 wheel drive for your MOT test and banging the transfer
88b
I've seen it on several cars and the owners always claim the clutch wasn't slipping. When you get it apart the pressure plate is blue.
