markbivvy
Get yourself to Tim Hannams and Pick up some 40/50/55 V-max, they do the trick nicely and are easy to load for. Hodgdon Powders are cheap at Henry Kranks and SYSS, Viht is cheaper at SYSS too i think but its not usually enough to justify the travel to be honest. Long term, viht is often a few pence cheaper per round too. 133/135 is the powder of choice for the 223 i think. Buy a reloading manual though, I have the £40 Hornady but its worth its weight in gold, plus the ballistic charts are spot on too for the long range compensation. Hornady bullets seem to suffer the least supply problems too in my experience and Tim usually has a big stock being the importer. top man fister, and the primers would be? please
markbivvy
thanks fister. i load for something that works EVERY TIME with easily available products. this is what i would like. new to this reloading lark so easy at this stage is what i want. one more thing fister please. do i need to use a factory crimp die, or will the bullet seating die in the deluxe rifle die set do. chrisv
Re. powders, I've messed about and ended up with too many open tubs of powder. If I were to start again, I would decide what bullet weight I wanted to use first and go from there (assuming your barrel is of the right twist rate). For 40 grain Vmax I would use either H335-good, Benchmark-very good, but fills the case with 40grain moly coated or Vit 130 For 50s I would go for Benchmark or VitN133 H322 might be ok for 40s, but I've never tried it. H4198 is listed for the 223, but I think it's far too fast. You may get different results in your rifle though, which is why I haven't put any powder weights in. If you want some suggestions from what I've got so far just let me know. Chris
