Fridge and freezer help req....

Hi, need some help from the PW "white-goods" people please :D

Recently had a F/Fzr pack up on me [too old to repair] and have an integrated freezer that hasn't worked for years, and a partnered fridge that is about to go aswell, so....

I've decided to replace the F/F with a tall fridge[free standing] and buy two under-counter integrated freezers. I've looked in the usual well known stores, and on-line, but can't seem to find exactly what I need for the price [read cheap] I'm willing to pay.

So does anyone know of any good, reliable on-line places to look for, or anywhere in Kent that does discount appliances ?

Thanks in advance

Chris

ps. must add that these are needed quickly ;)

Under counter intergrated- meaning built under? ie fully fitted with cabinet doors  Remember any fitted fridge or freezer uses a lot more power in this situation. ask yourself do you realy need to run two and if so do they need to be fully fitted. Running cost are certainly more relivent than purchase price.

By the way i am from the kitchen trade

Thanks for the replies fella's :good: Will be looking at your suggestions clackk, cheers.

@ Kent,,,, yes, they are/will be fully integrated. Replacing two old existing ones,,,, one dead, one nearly expired

Running costs don't come into it, 'cos adapting the kitchen would cost far more than years of use.

Any help with actually sourcing good reasonably priced items will be much appreciated, thanks :)

Neff then, there is only one in that discription (or at least there was) so its not worth quoting model numbers, do not under estimate running costs- the built ins / under do use a load more power and this cost adds up continously. If its a re-plan try and avoid it if you can, two built under freezers is something i should avoid, as they cost more than F/standing have less room inside, use more power and rob the kitchen of worthwhile storage units. Most people keep too much frozen food in storage anyway, though as a shooter and angler myself i understand seasonal gluts (consider the cost of storage often comes to more than the worth of the food though) :good:

TRY http://a3appliances.co.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=19&Itemid=7&vmcchk=1&Itemid=7 and http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/cl/15/Freezers and http://www.capitalappliance.co.uk/contact.asp (specialists in graded appliances but not local)

Are you after the type that have matching doors to the kitchen cupboards? or under counter and 500mm or 600mm? Cheap appliances are often a bad idea if your after fully integrated i would look for showroom clearance kitchens suppliers.

Generally speaking, under counter freezers are horrible things.

They are too small to put much in, and they are a pain to get stuff out of – the opening it too small.

However, all is not lost.

There is a company that makes under the counter chest/draw freezers.

The whole lot slides out like a draw so you can easily get to stuff in the front or back or the freezer.

I have seen them in the flesh – but I can’t remember who makes them.

If I was getting an under counter freezer, this is the sort I would get.

Hi Kent, thanks for the help and advice. Could you explain how and why [in layman's terms] an under-counter built-in freezer uses more power?

Also, is it worth getting frost free freezers, are they really worth the extra expense?

I can understand the capacity/volume issue, but this is a replacement for two duff items, in an existing kitchen set-up with no possibility of changing any units, and no other room/space to use for another tall unit. This is really a change from one tall F/F, one each of a built in/fully integrated fridge and freezer, to one tall fridge [free-standing] and two fully integrated/built-in freezers. There are no other options, so it comes down to damage [to the wallet] limitation.

Thanks for all your help so far, will take it all on board and look at my best options so far.
