RC20 semimagnum 32g no4's

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Picked up some rc20 semimagnum 32g no4's the other day, I was actually after something a little larger for fox I was hoping for 3" no3's or larger but matey said these was the largest he had.

Apparently not many firms load bigger shot sizes in 20g, seemed a bit steep at £9 a box but I got a couple to try anyway. Went out tonight for a wander armed with a box of them and bagged 6 rabbits for 8 shots, they feel really punchy to say there only 32g but I guess I'm comparing to 12g.

I'm not sure I'd want to use them purely as a fox shell but if I could find them cheaper they'd definitely be my preferred bunny shell, bowled 2 over at 30-35yards with barely a twitch the rest was all closer but all very dead. Very happy so far appart from the price.

Anyone else use them and what sort of price do you pay?

Knife to a gun fight.....:D

I wouldnt say that, ive shot several fox with a shotgun and most have been shot with 32g 5's purely because that was all i had when they showed up, I'd never go out foxing with my shotgun unless id been baiting but there's no harm in been prepared and having something a little more suitable in your pocket just incase. just keep it sensible and there as effective as a rifle imo, I've not had a runner so far.

I've used these in shot size 3 on decoyed greylags in Scotland, did the job perfectly at 30 yards. FOB/Viri 3" 34g 4's from http://www.clayshootingrus.co.uk/ - now those ones are punchy  They normally do them at the Midland Game Fair if you're going.

North Ayrshire Shooting import/sell Clever Mirage, they do a 36g 20 bore.

Cheers for the links guys I think I'll try some more local shops and see if I can get some no3's

I agree with you there bicykillgaz, I have some of these RC20`s as they were the biggest i could find for the 20bor, was actually looking for BB`s if I could of got them but I couldnt find any so bought these for occasional fox to ! Not used any yet as the last 3 fox ive shot with shotgun have been with 50gram 0shot which mullers them at 35-40 yards through a half choke !

I bet them bad boys kick!

These no4's will definitely do the job close range like any cartridge but I'd just prefere some 3" no3's if I can find them, big-ish shot size but still decent amount in your pattern.
