n11tht
I need to pull on some expertise. Ive got a shotgun stock where the chequering has been recut very badly. It actually looks like it has been done with a stanley knife and is all over the place. I'm wondering if I can fill the chequering with anything and then get it recut or if I should maybe sand the wood down evenly on each side until the cheqeuring surface is flat and then get it recut. Any suggestions?

HDAV
Depends if the gun is worth it or not but i think taking back to flat and having it recut is the only real option.
n11tht
ive stripped all the old varnish off and the new cheqeuring isnt very deep so it looks like i could get away with taking it back to flat
HDAV
Chequering by hand is a real skill worth finding a craftsman with plenty of experience to have a look before going too mad, is it just the grip which has been recut?
