After recently stripping out and replacing our entire kitchen the time came to replace the cooker. The other half searched for weeks till she decided on a model that was on offer whereby if you bought the cooker and extractor together you would get the matching splashback free.At first I dug my heels in and refused to part with that kind of money but eventually I caved in and agreed-she then rang to place the order only to be told that the offer had finished the previous day and the entire set was now £1700.As she was so upset when she rang and told me I tried pleading with the dealer who refused to budge. As a last ditch attempt I asked her to find the number for the manufacturer-this done I rang and explained the situation. The lady on the other end informed me that they didn't sell direct to the public but as my wife was so upset she would "fix" the paperwork to supply us the whole set as a replacement for an imaginary previous cooker. She would then invoice us for "repairs" to the value of £1047!!!.I cannot name the company for obvious reasons but a saving of over £600 deserves writing about-its unusual ,these days, to find a company willing to bend the rules for the benefit of a customer.

Last night the Misses was booking a hotel with airmiles/Avios.

We were going to get a train to London on the 30th for a flight, but decided to go there on the 29th and stay in a hotel that night.

But, she accidently booked the hotel for the 30th instead of the 29th.

We called Avios and explained the problem.

They fixed it on the phone for us with no further charge.

They would have been well within their rights to charge us the £20 adjustment fee.

In fact, the bloke on the phone did say that if we had called the next day the fee would have been charged.

Really, I would have expected them to fix it as we called so quickly.

But it’s nice when expectations are met without drama.

I don't want to sound like i am dampening your thread, and well done for getting a bargain..we all love a bargain

But..the manufacture is really out of order,

if they sale their product to shops, then in theory they are taking a sale away from their own customers,

if they undercut their customers price , if they sold it at the retail price , then their own customer would still be in with a chance of the sale....

the biggest problem comes when all the shops are gone and we can only purchase goods without seeing them online ..

But !!!!! well done you..I would love to save £600, good shopping that man
