Tod
I would imagine the word here is "old" and that the manual was written pre Lil'Gun. While staying well clear of the maximum charge weight, this powder will easily add a further 3 to400 fps to the 1680 figures and 6 to 700 for those of the 110. yes, pre Lil'Gun, just looked its from Speer manual number 12 from the nineties, used to use it when i reloaded for handgun loads, well outdated now. wymberley
If you Google, '13 loads available in .22 Hornet with powder equal Hodgdon Lil'Gun' and go for the, 'reloaders nest' site which this throws up then there's a selection. kent
The Cz i have here put a 45 grn seirra hornet out at 2900 with lil gun- no pressure signs and brass doing exceptionally well. 35 v-max were a total waste of time factory loaded they produced 3050 fps great a 50yds, bearly passable at 100yds and not worth aiming once you got to 150. There is no gain in this light bullet as it has a poor BC so the speed is soon lost, catogorically will not shoot flatter to 200yds over a heavier better bullet ran slightly slower at the muzzle. Straightness is key in the hornet i think, if anyone wants thier proceedure checking and doesnt have the gear i will run over a few dummies and give the measured run out. I run at less than .001" using LE Wison hand dies and RWS brass BTW
Amazed
Hi all, I have now run out of the reloader 7 I was given to learn with and have made some nice accurate loads with both the 40 grain v max and the 45 grain hornady bullets. I am about to get some more supply's in soon will be running ppu brass and Remington 6.5 small rifle primers. Am going to try the 53 grain v max bullet as its got a good bc and from what data I can gather it will run well out to 200 yards. Given a speed of 2500 fps which is obtainable with little risk. The question is h110 or lilgun ? What are your thorts ? Thanks Karl.
kent
my thoughts are leave well alone on the bullet front its too long for the twist rate and magazine and too heavy for the calibre. Why loose out on all these when you can run 45-46 grn bullets at 2900 fps, fit them in the mag and get the correct terminals and stunning accuraccy? BC is important but it aint the be all and end all on powder it has to be Lil gun as it produces less pressure for the same velocity and works at the perfect fill level. Lower pressures mean longer brass life - a factor that cannot be ignoored in this skinny walled case. Experiment with your primer choice to get the best out of it not powder IMO, generally i am preffering high quality small pistol at present
Amazed
Hi Kent. Yes I neglected the fact that the cz has sutch a slow twist rate. I have been reading up and some people have been replacing the barrel with a 1 in 8 or 1 in 10 to utilise the heaver better bc bullets at the relatively slow speeds of the hornet. I will stick with the 40 grain v max for longer range crow and the 45 grain hornet for walking about and using the mag. But the question still remains what route to take with the powder ? Thanks Karl.

Am back now yes thank you for the advice I will have to stick with the ppu brass but will get some Lil gun in and play about with different primer bullet combos am going to try and stay in the 1.750 col so I can use the mag. Thanks again Karl

njc110381
I don't suppose you ever find yourself passing Gloucestershire for any reason? I've got a number of bullets and powders you could try but unfortunately they can't be posted.
