Terry P
Been wildfowling for 23 yrs now and a couple of nights ago I was out on the foreshore after the ever elusive geese, I had no joy with the geese but whilst just sitting there soaking it all up I heard ducks starting to call, they appeared out of the darkening sky, I recognised the call but was suprised as i've never seen them on the foreshore before. There was four of them and they came over me just lovely and one collapsed to the first shot, I missed with the second but scored with the third, after a couple of quick retrieves one from the water the other off the beach I had a tidy brace of Gadwall, and as a added bonus the wife reckons they were the tastiest shes ever had. silver pigeon 3
I had my first drake Gadwall the other day too, it has been on my list since i started fowling. I think they are one of the prettiest drake duck ( in a funny understated way). Congratulations on your brace mate
Thunderbird
Nice that they tasted good too. I was a bit worried about my hen shoveler but I was reassured all would be well and it was. Nice brace
scolopax
neep neep, neep neep great ducks, get one or two most seasons but not all. Not really an estuary duck but some will flight out from ponds on the land side of the seawall to grit on the sandbanks or just generally loaf around. Found them relatively easy to call, once had a good lot go over high and fast heading inland at last light. I gave them a couple of calls and thought they had gone, 20 seconds later they were trying to land around me.

Congratulations on your brace mate Your right they are well under rated in the looks department, a really understated handsome bird. M ROBSON
Terry, From what I've heard all the major east coast roosts are full up with Pinks just now, I haven't been up the Tay yet but I'm sure the usual spots will be the same.
