Gregthegreat
So following the trailcam footage that I posted on here yesterday, I set up at 0500 this morning in the passenger seat of the Trooper with the .223 at around 60 yards from the baited area to try and get at least one of the foxes caught on camera. From past experience in this wood I'd found I heard anything before it was possible to see it so I waited and listened intently. Within 20 minutes or so I heard something so popped the NV on only to see the black and white chap having a mooch around and sniffing around the bait. Not feeling hungry myself, I let it be and continued to wait. The camera showed the lone fox to be most active around 0545 and right on cue I heard an obvious bit of disturbance. Popping the NV on again I picked up the IR of the camera - meaning it had been triggered by something. Sure enough, a fox appeared from behind some brambles and was having a good sniff around. That's when I started recording. The fox was facing away slighlty so I placed the shot behind its shoulder and as you'll see, it connected well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOj60k1fCzk Turns out it was an old vixen, probably the mother of the two cubs that I've seen together and appear in the last clip of the trailcam video. I waited until 0730 and there was no sign of the two cubs so I've left the camera in place and we'll continue to bait the area for another time. Cheers for reading, Greg.
