kipper
Hi, I have had air rifles for 15+yrs and I have had a shotgun licence for 2 1/2 years, Im going up to my dad's tomorrow to fill in the forms for a F.A.C. we do have land to shoot on that has been passed for F.A.C rifles We want the F.A.C for shooting rabbits and the occasional hare / fox. what caliber would you recamend we apply for.? I think .22 is fine for rabbits. but if we apply for .22 is that the largest caliber we can have. If we apply for a larger caliber would we be able to have a .22 aswell? or have we got to apply for each caliber separate. your help and advice would be graitfully received chaps. KIPPER. il cacciatore
The FAC process works like so. You need to apply for each and every caliber you wish to obtain and you need to state to the purpose of aquiring that caliber. If you want a moderator you need to apply for a moderator for each and every caliber and you need to state the reason for each moderator applied for. You can apply for both .22 (or not) and any other caliber as long as A: the land over which you want to shoot is suitable and B: you have a just reason for it. So you can apply for .22lr for vermin and .243 for deer and fox but you are unlikely to be granted a .243 for rabbits or other small vermin. You can only hold one of every weapon applied for if granted. I'm not sure on this one but I dont believe that hare are a legitimate target for a FAC... I would suggest that you read through this site as it deals with most of the questions that you are likely to have regarding FAC.

kipper
markbivvy, If I didn't trust myself with guns, firstly I would not be considreing applying for a F.A.C and secondly I would not be the proud owner of a shot gun or a air rifle, Im just trying to gather infomation and knowladge, to help me along the way. and I thaught this might be a good place to start. thanks for replies and Firearms Enquiries site link gents, graitfully received. kipper
