Tod
wear what your comfortable in, a good sturdy pair of boots and a waist coat of some description to put your shells in
Bloke
As above, although if you have your own ear defenders or shooting glasses, they are worth taking along, as most grounds will otherwise sell you earplugs and lend you their spare glasses. A cap/ baseball cap is worth taking too, bits of flying clay can be sharp on the old head, if the wind is blowing the wrong way. Otherwise, just take along a good sense of humour, and enjoy yourself, have a good day....
hillmouse
Wear what you normally shoot in. PPE such as eye, ear and head protection should be provided. If you have your own take it along.
100milesaway
A baseball cap, glasses, ajacket without zips, studs, go faster stripes toggles, hoods etc anywhere near your shoulder area.NO scarves. If you have long hair take something to get it out of your shoulder area and away from your eyes.If it is at a shooting venue that is open at times other than your lesson, go and watch, the people doing all the hitting will make it look so easy and you can learn loads by just looking and taking on board what happens. The other good thing is it teaches you the right etiqueette and it cost nothing.. from Auntie.

clayman
Winter is approaching and the weather not too good, so no doubt you will have a fleece or jacket. Most dedicated shooting garments have no collar, as this gets in between the comb and the cheek, and makes good gun placement on the shoulder more difficult. If you choose cold / wet weather garments to take, try to get one with no or minimal collar.
