Started off with a call saying that there ws a deer stuck in the mud, after investigating it was found to be a stag that was just unable to take more than a few steps before falling into a wallow, he was thin in the haunches so was dispatched by my friend, we think he was an old boy ( very little teeth left) and had picked one to many fights on the rutting stands, kinda sad but I am sure he had his fair share of ladies

Then went out in the evening to continue our cull which is going really well, this chap came out of the hedge ran right up to my high seat then smelt me and ran away, unfortunately for him not far enough, neck shot with the 7mm-08 and into the larder

I would guess that the antler was damaged during the time he was in velvet.

unfortunately I dont get to keep any of the unusual or really good heads, they stay on the land for teaching and as a collection

I guess they would be sold if someone wanted to buy them but trophy heads are just not my cup of tea, so never bothered, i would be happy to ask if you wanted me to

I think he would be happy to sell the fallow antlers if you tell me what sort of price you can pay I would be happy to find out, but I dont think he would give them away.

I was talking to him this afternoon about getting something to make a priest with, the pricket one that I made wasnt really big enough to make a decent one to hold.

what sort of thing were you thinking of making ?
