njc110381
I know I'm jumping the gun slightly here, as I haven't been granted my certificate yet, but I'm trying to learn as much as I can! What load would you use for general pest shooting? I'm mainly going to be taking on rabbits and pigeons, and maybe some crows. I think from what I have read, I want a felt wad over farm land? If I can have a gun, it will be a multi choke o/u with 3" or 3.5" chambers. Thanks in advance for any help
16 Bore
The cheapest !!!!!!!! I've always used fibre/felt wads and I find six shot to be the best as an all rounder. 28g or 30g isn't too bad on the shoulder. One of those questions that doesn't really have a correct answer, bit like asking if a .22 or .177 air rifle is better
njc110381
Oh right, I thought it may have been a bit more complicated than that. Saves effort and brain space though, thanks! I'll bear the no.6 shot in mind, there's loads of choice isn't there! Cheap sounds good though seeing as I'm used to airguns and £5 for 500 being reasonable! Looks like I need to get the overtime in when I can!
Dunkield
Get some 6's, try gamebore clear pigeons or similar, but they prices on all of them have gone up a bit recently
MC
I would stick to a well known brand like gamebore or express. Some of the cheaper cartridges aren't as good. You get what you pay for.
Ferret Master
Hi, I use 28g of 6's out of a 20 bore with 1/4 and 1/2 choke for rabbits and it works fine. 6's are good all rounders. FM
