rjm365
Morning gentlemen and gentlwwomen, I am currently getting into the pigeons amd whilst Searching and asking local farmers for permission Have so far got about 10 acres of grazing land - the odd fox and rabbit float around. Now ive tried a 13 decoy pattern with modest luck -5 pigeons from 3 two hour stints - any advice would be great Cheers
lister1
I've shot over clover and had some reasonable results. Just have to keep trying different patterns, times of day etc.
pigeon controller
You should wait till you see birds feeding on clover to get the best results. Set out real birds as you get them and bring your plastics closer to you. Make or buy a couple of flying frames an put these at the rear of your pattern and that will let them land in the pattern if you put them at the front they will not overfly them and veer away which is great if you want passing shots. Be patient and watch the reaction to your pattern and change things if it's not working. Good luck.
rjm365
cheers boys! will try try the flying frames out- bought a spinning wing and a flying decoy this week, don't want to sound stupid but are there times of the year where shooting on clover is at its peak or is it hit and miss?? Frost will close the clover , so warmer periods are the best the birds will tell you when it is right.
WoodyPopper
I was moaning to someone once about the fact that they don't grow rape on my permission. He said to me "but you've got clover - that'll keep you in pigeons all year round." Certainly there seems to be something in what he said.
