shakin stevens
I have a few kilo of the stuff, got it last year off a chap who had a full keg, i have found it is not the best to rto in 3 1/2 inch shells for steel in 12bore. Maybe because it runs less pressure than the steel powder, went back to crimping and the speed is over 1400fps with a 1 3/8 load of b shot and bb with less powder. They is a mixture of both, but you will find rto loads take more powder to get them going in steel loads , i found this a waste of powder so went back to crimping. pestcontrol1
crimp would be easyer then rto for me they will work better in the auto (dont have to trim case down)

shakin stevens
stick to crimping, you will find that you will have a more consistent load, i tried rto over the chrono over many rounds with this powder save some powder and save a few £££s

super sharp shooter
I thought it was me going mad I have to trim the wads for a good crimp.
pestcontrol1
I don"t mind trimming the wads a bit to use them up then get the better wads
super sharp shooter
It's knowing what wads to use is the problem as I'm new to reloading!
pestcontrol1
Am with you on that one mate i ask the questions like ( the load data i have for xyz load has ******* wad do u have any ??) No but this one is the same and cheaper. good i will have some of them. Then when i get home into the garage to load some up ****k me they dont fit at all cant get the right amount of shot in or to high to low an so i end up sending them back dose my nut in at times. The wife got me a reloading book and ****** all listed in was still made so i lost it to the log burner monster because she was fed up of me moaning. super sharp shooter
Yep it seems that with steel loads that you have to have plastic wads in all seem to be a mix and match lotto chance to fit together. I ordered some ballistic products mm 12313 wads from clay and game and they sent me multi- metal magnum wads that I have to trim down to get a good deep crimp but they still fit the 42g of load in. I thought it was my lack of reloading knowledge that was at fault.
pestcontrol1
yep it sertanly leaves you scratching your head the wads that i am using at the min are cgr 350 and i am trimming them down by about 7 - 9 mm to fit and taking the packer out and still get the same 42g of steel in so its not to bad i have only got 219 left to use
super sharp shooter
The floor looks like toe nail clippings oll over it. The data says a spacer is needed under the shot but that leaves no space for the crimp. So I tried less powder but the shot hardly got out the barrel Edited October 13, 2012 by super sharp shooter
