Gregthegreat
I popped out last night at dusk for a couple of hours with the .223 in pursuit of the ginger ninjas who remain. I've got the foxes down tight but the trailcam showed one visiting on Saturday then yesterday the keeper told me a neighbouring house had a goose killed the other night. As the trailcam is positioned a couple of hundred metres away from her house it's logical to assume it's the same fox. 75% of the maize has also been cut this week and after a fox bolted early to my right on one field while I was looking left (typical) I had a look round on the maize stubbles as well. Anyway, this quick video is of the first, shot on a drilled field across the valley whilst I was on a maize stubble. Range was approx 130yds, hence a bit of hold-under. Shot off a mono stick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s875JUYRR0&feature=youtu.be The fox taken in the video, a vixen and one of this years. I did start to record the second but the unit decided to turn off during filming so it didn't save it... which was handy. I parked up a few hundred metres away from where the goose was killed and had a quick lamp over the gate before climbing it and sure enough a big set of orange eyes shone back at me. I had a feeling it was heading towards me and the wind was in my favour. I climbed the gate quietly (using all my training of course) and walked 50 yds or so down the track. Poping the NV on he was trotting straight at me up the track. He paused and turned to sniff in the grass to his side and that was all I needed. A good size dog fox, again, this years. Hopefully that's the goose culprit dealt with. I've been hearing a vixen's mating call recently so there's still a few about.... until next time. Cheers. Greg. Gregthegreat
Good one. How are you getting on with the rats? Cheers guys. I got myself set up on the rats on Tuesday night but I must have only seen three at most. Not sure what had changed, it could have been a number of things so I'll try again soon.
