Hopefully will be picking up a A400 xcel sporter tomorrow :). The only snag I have at the moment my cartridge stock is running very low on Hull intercomp HV's but have plenty of Hull Comp X 28g's fibre left.

Has any users or owners of the A400 tried using the 28g comp x's in the xcel and will they cycle ok? I don't use o/u's at the moment, if they don't cycle will have a pile left around not being able to be used.

My A4OO sporter will not cycle 21gms, it should work ok with 28gm Comp X. Mine functions ok with any 24gm loads.

To run your gun in, close the action then manually pull back the bolt and let it go forwards itself, I did that for about ten minutes and it worked ok with 24gms from brand new.

gamebore comp 21g,on the plastic A400 case it does say only use 32g carts to break the gun in but barry simpson said it would be fine with 28g but all i had were 21g comp so thats what i used for a full 100 bird practice straight out of the case brand new never missed a beat, only traded it in for a maxus ultimate ducks

I asked as the only 21g I found they recycle sometimes was the Eley 21g which does infact kick like a mule for a 21g cartridge.

Very few Semi Auto's will recycle the Hull 21g Comp X or the Express 21g H.V which are the best 21g cartridges.

I've not used the Gamebore 21g yet though but if they are anything like their bigger cousins then I suspect they too have a fair amount of recoil which will indeed cycle some Semi auto's.

I have heard of several new A400s that have had to put 250 big loads of 32g+ through them to ease them up shall we say.
