big bad lindz
Hi All, The Mrs today asked me what I wanted for crimbo and she knows that I have been looking at a Swanndri Ranger shirt on the web, I have heard that they are good but you need to be carefull with the sizing. I do not have any local shops that I could try one on for size and as its a crimbo present I do not want to go down the returns line if its to big or small. I will be using it mostly on the foreshore for wildfowling under my current camo jacket. I am finding that now its getting a lot colder that I am having to bulk up with shirts & fleeces and if I can i want to reduce the amount of clothing that I am wearing, more so with a long walk to & from my shooting areas. and larthering up to much. Cheers, BBL
Lurch
I've never heard any issues with sizing and my Swanni is true to size. However my advice to you is to scrap the idea of getting a Swanni and get a Bison Bushcraft Shirt instead http://www.bisonbushcraft.co.uk/bison_bushcraft_outfitters.htm They are much much better than the Swanni, made in the UK and from British wool. I have a couple of Swannies and a couple of Bisons and for me you can keep the Swannie, they are trading on a reputation they don't deserve. The Bison shirts are better made, more robust and made in Blighty - what more could you ask for?
big bad lindz
Cheers for that link Lurch. I know you have said more robust and better made are the bisons weather resistant as well. I have not looked into detail on the web page but going to do so BBL
Lurch
To me the Swanni Rangers are a little tea bag in construction so if you are wearing them as an outer layer is going to let the wind in. The Bison are a much tighter knit which are better at keeping the elements out, though with any wool 'shirt' of this style they aren't going to be waterproof. huffhuff
The original swanni back in the day (when made in NZ) where the dogs danglies. However, since moving to china (or wherever)...all down hill. Poor quality. Go with the bison
