MG6065
Hi all, looking at getting a 17hmr in the very near future, just want some advice of what scope to buy, I want something that will enable me to take rabbits once I have experience at 120-130 yards, my budget is around 100-200 but the 100 mark would be better, not worried about fancy names just something I'll be able to take long range bunnies with, that will last a long time and will hold its zero, thanks all! MG6065
Which magnification would you suggest on those ones?
bullet boy
I will always recommend Simmons Whitetail Classic range of scopes as they are excellent value for money glass. You should be able to pick up a nice secondhand Simmons WTC 3.5-10x50 in your price range of £100. ATB.
Tod
Which magnification would you suggest on those ones? mines a 6 x 24 x 56 and you can really zoom in on 100+ yard bunnies, though it does look a little big on the gun due to the sun shade,if you troll through my post theres a pic of it, also look at the simmons whitetail as bullet boy mentioned, always buy the best you can afford, the only reason i bought mine is i got it for 160 quid brand new. V8 90
I put an MTC Viper 6-32x56 on mine when I bought it - It was removed after 4 weeks & I wouldn't buy another ! They fog out when the light/angle of the sun is wrong - just like The High Mag Nikko Stirling Night Eaters do ! I have tried several different makes on it since, I now have a Hawke 6-24x56 Sidewinder fitted it's been on for over a year & is staying on !! Deiseboy
If you're only looking for shooting rabbits at that range you wont need much over 9 or 10x magnification. If you want to shoot longer range targets you'd need more mag. I had a hawke 3-9x40 on my hmr and I had no issues shooting rabbits at 150 yards.
