Anonymouslemming
Oh and if sharing I would go bigger than an RL5+! I have an ST5 and with one air rifle and 2 **** guns there isn't enough room for another shooter! Yikes - that sounds smaller than it looked in the shop. I was hoping it would take the 2 air rifles and 2 shotguns... Might be best to ask at the shope when I go to get it if I can see it with 5 guns in, and go for something bigger if required. I've only got a limited amount of space to fit it into though ...

You will fit 2 airguns and 2 shotguns, but wont fit 4 airguns and 7 shotguns  I give it 18 months before you buy a second cabinet! I am one of the exceptions that proves the rule..... Applying the "beware the man with gun, he probably knows how to use it" PS i have 2.........

Hehehe Well, I've managed to stay limited to 2 air rifles for a few years now - 1 for me and 1 for my wife. I'm hoping to be able to do the same with the shotguns - worst case scenario, the air rifles come back out of the cabinet and back into the lockbox in the roof - that'll make room for at least 1 spare shotgun. I've only gone for the RL instead of the SL as a convenience really - it saves me having to climb up and down from the roof on the weekends to get the air rifles out. If acquisition of shotguns becomes a huge problem for me, I can always go back to climbing up and down

Salopian
Is it a legal requirement to have a cabinet? What about if you just want a SGC but don't intend to own a gun?
timps
No legal requirement, I had a licence when I first started and was sharing my dad’s gun. Just got a letter from the Chief Constable that I had to return the gun back to my Dad’s cabinet after use as I had nowhere to store it securely at my house. Once I decided to get my own gun (I mean permanently borrow my dad's) I fitted a cabinet and they came out to check it. My friend stored his gun in my cabinet for a couple of years as well. No need to have cabinet if you dont own a gun or store one on premises friend of mine had cert over a year before buying a gun (and then had to have cabinet) but it was for borrowing a gun and buying carts. Was no issue at all
Daffyhitter
Just a quick hello and welcome to the sport, it's important for its future for new shooters and hope you have many years of enjoying this great sport. If it Essex shooting ground you have been too then it prob will be Olly that's been taking you round. I shoot there regular myself and always take new people there due to its nice atmosphere and good sporting layout with a mix of targets. All the best. Thanks - yes, it was Olly on our first lesson, and we were both comfortable with him so I expect to be booking more lessons as soon as cash frees up.
