Guest HandleBar
Cheers again Tel for getting us in on a awesome patch of land, as Jim says the day was made better for me seeing Tim in his element His excited screams sounding up the hill of 'Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit' everytime a bunny bolted had me in stitches Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to try for the 50, when the locator was showing a 6 foot layup at 4.30pm I was questioning our sanity. Can't wait for the next outing. SS Big thank you to bakerboy again for supplying some crazy sport, thoroughly enjoyed myself, but above all enjoyed watching the excitment on tims face when he grabbed his first bunny. Its good to see the youth of today taking on board our ancient practice. Im sure half his class will be gagging to get stuck in too to be continued................................. A big thank you to everyone for showing us the ropes, my knees felt a bit tender this morning after running around on that uneven ground but Tim/We had an amazing time
PhilR
I'd also like to offer my thanks to the Ian, Ian, Jim and Neil for showing an old geezer novice what they were doing. I reckon the 49 total would've easily been increased if they were quietly there by themselves. Still there's quite a few more hedgerows to have a go at. I could do with having some of whatever Tim's on as he was a ball of energy from the moment he got out of the car at the meet up in the pub carpark and I suspect he was the same until bedtime and probably beyond. I can quite understand why his Grandad hasn't got any hair left. It wouldn't have surprised me to have seen a pair of feet waggling about above a burrow after he'd dived in to catch an escaping rabbit either. A great day, thanks again. the pelt man
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to try for the 50, when the locator was showing a 6 foot layup at 4.30pm I was questioning our sanity. SS To all you readers my i just say that all of those out that day was Questioning "SS's & Jim The Fish's SANITY " They were the one's wanting to push for the fifty. For the rest of us it was BEER O'CLOCK. Poor SS had little action at the top of the hedge line and this i feel was the lack of reasoning and the reason why we set on a 8 hole warren by the exit. Now all would have been fine and the fifty in the bag BUT as 2 Rabbits showed at holes instead of letting them bolt both SS and JIM THE FISH jumped at the holes, resulting in the Rabbits going back down never showing again. With this SS moved to another 8 hole Warren and bolted a Rabbit within a minute or two, then he had the kill underground and 4 foot dig to get the Ferret out but no sign of the Rabbit as the tunnel went deeper down and out of reach. I even had to make SS see sence and talked him out of trying to dig down to find that last bunny. Lesson or 2 lernt. SS, Phil Terry and myself finaly left with SS and I meeting up with HuffHuff at " The Rusty Gun" for a couple of well earned Beers. Thanks Terry and all the others, nice to meet up and a great day out, Well worth the pain with my prolapsed disc (but paying for it now). Why i tried running 20 yards (falling a'over't) after a escaped Rabbit running at full pelt i will never know. one other thing I could never work for the BOMB SQUAD, while clearing a Rabbit hole Just as i pulled out a stinging nettle and the stem snaped a GAS GUN went off with a almighty boomb and i nearly pooped myself :o PELTY Edited November 20, 2012 by the pelt man
dogrun
Today me and Handlebar2 went ferreting with Bakerboy, Peltman, Stealthstalker, Catcherpelt, Philr & Huffhuff. For Handlebar2 and myself it was our first outing ferreting and we had an amazing day. I'm sure they don't know what hit them when we unleashed Tim (handlebar2) on them. We learnt a lot and are looking forward to the next time We got 48 I think which I thought was great and Tim looks looks likes he's swallowed a coat hanger (not in the picture but since we got home) and I'm sure his school mates will hear all about it thats what you call a good day out ferreting, brilliant, and a cracking photo aswell, the only thing the nipper is spoilt now,ha ha
