x bootneck
Maybe a silly question but i have never done this before. Can someone explain how rfd2rfd works? I would like to buy a gun but unfortunately there is a couple of hundred miles between us. Sorry if this has been covered before I can't seem to search forums on my phone. walshie
The seller takes his gun to his RFD who fills in the seller's paperwork and gets the gun sent. The receiving RFD fills in your paperwork and gives you the gun. It's kind of being transferred from the seller to the sending RFD. Then that RFD to your RFD, then your RFD to you. It's quite a simple process once you've seen it work. Edited November 23, 2012 by walshie
x bootneck
Cheers mate, I assume there would be a fee to pay to both dealers? Any idea of what sort of price Is reasonable?
walshie
It's normally quite expensive. You have to pay both RFDs and the postage. You can normally negotiate a bit though. About £25 each end is usual round here.

Bewsher500
shop around I shipped one to the south coast and found an RFD willing to take delivery for a fiver otherwise some of them are just plain greedy, was quoted £45 by one. now on the basis that I have a guy in my shop with a new gun, possibly even a new calibre, wouldn't you think by doing a favour he is more likely to buy some ammo, bullets, powder etc from the RFD that hasnt just fleeced him for essentially signing for something!? x bootneck
Bewsher I like your thinking, lets hope my local rfd thinks the same.
TaxiDriver
My local shop wanted £20 for carriage AND £30 for 'paperwork' £50 in total
Bewsher500
sorry but I would spend £25 each way in petrol to find another shop if they valued my custom so little! robbery! I have a TNT account and it costs me less than that as a Non Guntrade Association member GTA members get TNT shipping for less than a tenner! anything over that is markup anything else is just taking the p1$$. what paperwork? less than 2 mins to fill out the log book and then another 2 mins to fill out the FAC I am sorry but some people deserve to go out of business with an attitude like that. x bootneck
£50 for filling in a form, then a fax and posting. I need to rethink my career choice.
