JDog
I've been incarcerated with 'man flu' for a few days but today I need to get out to see what pigeons were about. The three farms I looked at all had hundreds of pigeons on them but they were just sitting up in the trees not being tempted by rape leaves which stayed frozen all day in temperatures which never got above 3 degrees. There were no lines in or out. My last resort was a farm which has standing wheat round some fields as a result of the ground being too wet to get the combine on. The resident roe deer have made a meal of most of the corn heads by now but there were some pigeons feeding so I gave it a go. The place to set up was pretty obvious, next to an ash tree which would give me shelter from the cold wind. I waited fifteen minutes for the first birds, and after that there was a steady trickle for an hour and fifteen minutes. I shot and picked 25 but the cold wind forced to me pack up before the birds had finished flighting. I had my sport and the log fire beckoned.
